The Center for the Collaborative Classroom was created when two leading educational nonprofit organizations—Developmental Studies Center (DSC) and Cornerstone Literacy, Inc. (CLI)—merged to combine their 51 years of collective experience supporting the continuous professional learning of educators and the social and academic development of children. We work with schools and districts to empowers teachers to transform classrooms, build community, and create the conditions for learning in which children can take the necessary risks to become thoughtful, principled citizens of the world. Our curriculum and professional development focus on the integration of academics with social and emotional learning. Teachers become mindful of their practice by using materials that engage and motivate students, develop critical thinkers, and promote reflection about learning and community.
